Youth Ministry Opportunities
Our church is intentional about bringing young people into relationship with Jesus Christ and helping them to build their faith in him. Regardless of your faith background, you are welcome to join us! Here are some of the opportunities for older youth to get involved in our church (for younger children, please visit the children's ministry opportunities page):
Middle School Youth Group (Grades 6-8):
The Middle School Youth Group will meet during the fall of 2008 on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 7:00-8:30 p.m., beginning September 17. The format will generally be: 7:00-7:30 activity or game; 7:30-8:00 snacks and fellowship; 8:00-8:30 p.m. Bible study and prayer. In addition to the regular group meetings, we are planning on attending a Christian concert and engaging in a local mission project.
High School Youth Group (Grades 9-12):
The High School Youth Group will meet during the fall of 2008 on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 7:00-8:30 p.m., beginning September 10. The format will generally be: 7:00-7:30 activity or game; 7:30-8:00 snacks and fellowship; 8:00-8:30 p.m. Bible study and prayer. In addition to the regular group meetings, we are planning on attending a Christian concert and engaging in a local mission project.
Calvin Crest (All ages):
Calvin Crest, our camp, conference, and retreat center near Fremont, Nebraska, offers year-round programming for youth, including summer camp, middle school retreats, senior high retreats, and Confirmation retreats.
Confirmation (Grades 7-8):
As a way of teaching the Faith to our young people, we have created a special experience for 7th and 8th graders. During their year of Confirmation, students learn the basics of Christianity, learn what it means to follow Jesus Christ and be a part of his church, explore what it means to be Presbyterian, and travel to meaningful field trips to experience other traditions of Christianity. At the end of the year, students are given the opportunity to commit their lives to Jesus and to join his family, the church.
Youth Mission Trip (Grades 7-12):
We are already beginning to plan a major mission trip for next summer (2008) in cooperation with several other Presbyterian churches in Nebraska.
