Children's Ministry Opportunities
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:13 ESV) At our church, we take seriously Jesus' invitation to bring our children to him. We understand our church to be a covenant family--that is, we have not only individual relationships with God through Jesus Christ, but we also have a collective relationship with God through Jesus Christ. That means that it is our responsibility as a covenant family to teach the Faith to our young people so that one day they can claim the covenant promises for themselves by placing their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. To that end, we offer opportunities for young people to come to Jesus:
Church School (Ages 3-12):
During the fall and spring, we offer church school on Sunday mornings before worship. The format is basically this: 9:00-9:35 a.m. church school class; 9:35-9:45 a.m. music time; 10:00-11:00 a.m. worship. Our teachers use a solid Presbyterian and Reformed curriculum that is faithful, friendly, and fun to teach kids the basic stuff of the Bible.
Church school kicks off for the year the Sunday after Labor Day and runs through the Sunday before Memorial Day. Church school does not meet during the summer.
Vacation Bible School (ages 3 through 6th grade):
Early in the summer, our church hosts Vacation Bible School (VBS) for kids of our church as well as kids from the community. VBS features fun, crafts, food, songs, worship, and, of course, an encounter with the living Jesus!
Calvin Crest (All ages):
Calvin Crest, our Presbyterian camp, conference, and retreat center near Fremont, Nebraska, offers year-round programming for children of all ages, including a wide variety of summer camp and youth retreats. Our church encourages kids to attend camp as a way to encounter Jesus Christ.
